Hoffman Construction of Seattle was selected as general contractor and construction manager for the redevelopment of the Port of Everett’s North Marina area. The port has provided Hoffman with a pre-construction contract of $161,000 for advice on schedules and cost estimates. Later, the company will oversee the project, now estimated by the port to cost $300 million.

Quinton profits slip with merger costs

Quinton Cardiology Systems of Bothell reported net income of $900,000, or 6 cents a share, during the second quarter, compared to a $1.7 million profit for the same period last year. The latest quarterly results included expenses related to Quinton’s proposed merger with Cardiac Science Inc. A shareholder vote is expected Aug. 31.

Strong sales boost Zumiez stock

Zumiez Inc., the Everett-based retailer of sports-related clothes and accessories, said its sales in July increased 28 percent to $13.7 million, compared to $10.6 million for the same period of 2004. The company’s same-store sales went up 12.7 percent last month. Zumiez’s shares closed at $34.79, up 96 cents for the day.

Carmen Electra to model for P&G

Carmen Electra is the new face of Procter and Gamble Cosmetics. Contract details weren’t immediately available.

Stewart’s time at home lengthened

Martha Stewart’s release from home confinement and her electronic anklet has been delayed three weeks to the end of the month, her lawyer said Wednesday. Attorney Walter Dellinger said Stewart will remain confined at home until Aug. 31. Officials won’t say what Stewart did to earn the extra confinement. But news reports said she rode an ATV on her property and attended a nearby yoga class.

Popular Adidas to buy Reebok

Adidas-Salomon AG said Wednesday it has agreed to buy Reebok International Ltd. for $59 a share, combining two major brands linked to athletics and lifestyle. The architects of the $3.8 billion sportswear and athletic gear deal hope to create a more muscular rival to world leader Nike.
