Cyndy Olson is the new marina director for the Port of Everett. Olson has more than 10 years’ experience working in marinas, including Elliott Bay in Seattle and Semiahmoo in Blaine. She also has worked as a boat and yacht insurance agent. Olson will manage the port’s 2,300-slip marina and boat launch facility.
Elizabeth Brackett has been named business development officer for Everett-based Coastal Community Bank. Brackett, of Camano Island, has worked in the industry in the Northwest since 1974.
Dr. Cynthia Markus, Jagdish Sharma, Dorothy Kreist and Suzanne Moreau have been appointed by Gov. Chris Gregoire to state boards and committees. Markus, of Everett, is an emergency physician at North Sound Emergency Medicine. She was reappointed to the Emergency Medical Services and Trauma Steering Committee. Sharma, of Mill Creek, was appointed to the Commission on Asian Pacific American Affairs. He is a Boeing engineer and chairman of the Indo American Frienship Forum. Kreist, of Lynnwood, was appointed to the Employee Retirement Benefits Board. She is retired from the King County human resources office. Moreau, of Marysville, was reappointed to the Council on Substance Abuse. She is the director of the Puget Sound Labor Agency.
Daniel Rosen has been appointed to executive chairman of Neah Power Systems, a Bothell-based developer of fuel cells for military applications and portable electronic devices. Rosen, who earned a doctorate in biophysics at the University of California at San Diego, also is a member of the Neah Power System’s technical advisory board and the primary spokesman for the company.
Lynn Lewis, George Kosovich and Heather Fritts have new jobs with United Way of Snohomish County. Lewis is the impact and investment manager working with Kids Matter Vision Council. Kosovich is the impact and investment manager working with Families Matter Vision Council. Fritts is a new resource development associate.

Marcus Smith has been appointed to vice president in charge of corporate development at SonoSite, a Bothell-based producer of hand-carried ultrasound equipment. Smith previously worked with Philips Medical Systems.

Skycorp has received certification by the Federal Aviation Administration to place large jet aircraft on its air carrier certificate. The authorization granted to the Everett-based company is the highest level of certification given under federal aviation regulations. Skycorp is one of only two air carriers based in the greater Seattle area to obtain this level of FAA certification.
Canyon Creek Cabinet Co. of Monroe has received two awards recognizing the company’s efforts to reduce energy consumption and be mindful of its effect on the environment. The state Department of Ecology gave the company its Award of Excellence for hazardous waste reduction and the Pacific Northwest Polltion Prevention Resource Center recognized Canyon Creek for its pollution prevention achievement.
Aculight Corp., a Bothell-based developer of innovative laser technology for military, aerospace and medical applications, has been named to Washington CEO magazine’s list of the “Top 50 High Tech Firms in Washington.” Aculight ranked 32nd, up from 34th in the 2006 list.

Good deeds
The EverTrust Foundation, a Snohomish County philanthropic organization, recently presented a $10,000 grant to Christmas House 2007. Christmas House is a nonprofit, all-volunteer organization established in 1981 in Snohomish County. In 2006, Christmas House provided gifts to 7,238 children from 2,510 low-income families in the county. Christmas House 2007 will operate from Dec. 7-22 at the North Everett Boys &Girls Club. The EverTrust Foundation has distributed more than $2.5 million to more than 100 agencies and organizations during the past seven years.
