EVERETT — Chipotle Mexican Grill is bringing its fast-casual menu to Everett.
The chain plans to open its first restaurant in the city at the end of October at 515 SE Everett Mall Way next to the Starbucks near Target.
There are only two Chipotle locations in Snohomish County, both in Lynnwood, one at 4120 196th St. SW, No. 150 and the other at Alderwood mall.
The Denver-based company is adding several new restaurants in Washington, said Danielle Moore, a company spokeswoman.
Other cities in the state that are getting new Chipotle restaurants are Sammamish, Lakewood, Seattle, Bellevue, Tumwater and Kirkland.
The company, with 2,000 locations around the world, is known for its fresh, locally sourced ingredients in its burritos, burrito bowls and quesadillas.
All of its restaurants are company owned. None are franchises.
It was the first major chain to reject genetically modified food and emphasizes that it partners with farmers and ranchers who grow environmentally friendly crops and pasture-raised animals.
Last year, the company ran into trouble when several customers became ill with E. coli after eating at a Chipotle in Seattle. Several other E. coli and norovirus outbreaks occurred elsewhere.
The company saw overall sales dip 30 percent for the first three months of this year.
The restaurant in Everett will employ 25 to 30 people in full- and part-time jobs. Interested applicants can visit www.careers.chipotle.com for more information about job opportunities with the company.
