EVERETT — The Campaign for Providence received a $1 million gift from Phil and Kelly Johnson of Everett in support of Providence Regional Medical Center Everett’s new $500 million medical tower.
The Johnsons’ commitment will be recognized by Providence with the naming of the imaging se
rvices center in the new medical tower. The tower is scheduled to open June 14.
Phil Johnson was born and raised in Everett and is a successful local businessman, having founded Millstone Coffee in Everett more than 30 years ago. After establishing Millstone as a national brand, he sold the company in 1994. Today, he is chairman of Cascade Coffee Inc., the coffee roasting and service company he founded in 1995.
“As a life-long resident of Everett, Phil is committed to doing his part to make this community a wonderful and vibrant place to work and this gift is a continuation of his longtime support of Providence,” said David Brooks, CEO of Providence Regional Medical Center. “Phil and Kelly’s remarkable gift will help us to create and sustain a hallmark of health care excellence for the people of Everett and surrounding communities. For that, we are profoundly grateful.”
Phil Johnson said of the gift, “For all of my life, I have called Everett home. Having the highest quality medical care right here in this community is something Kelly and I very much value and want to support. It is a privilege to give to a project that will so positively impact so many people throughout our region.”
The Johnsons’ gift is part of Providence General Foundation’s capital campaign, The Campaign for Providence, which will help fund Providence Regional Medical Center’s new $500 million Medical Tower.
The Johnsons’ gift follows a $5 million gift Jan. 24 by Marshall and Katherine Cymbaluk, owners of Motor Trucks Inc. in Everett.
