Copa Airlines has placed a firm order for 13 Boeing Co. 737s, the Panama-based carrier said today.
The order is worth $1 billion at list prices. The 737s will be equipped with Boeing’s new “Sky Interior” inspired by the lighting and sculpted sidewalls of Boeing’s 787.
“The Boeing 737s have been a major factor in Copa’s success, providing us with operating and cost efficiencies, and enabling us to offer our passengers world-class service and an extensive route network throughout Latin America,” said Pedro Heilbron, CEO of Copa Airlines, in a statement. “This order reaffirms our confidence in our business model and the growth potential of Latin American aviation.”
Copa’s order isn’t listed on Boeing’s orders and deliveries Web site, which was updated today. However, Boeing shows an order for 13 737s from an unidentified customer.
Boeing has just four net orders through July 14. Boeing added an order for eight 737s from an unidentified customer this week. But the company also received cancellations for 3 737s and 2 777s.
