EDMONDS — If you have an entrepreneurial spirit, are about to start a new business or have already started one, a new discussion forum could be just the place you want to be.

Join entrepreneurs and those who want to start their own businesses at 5:30 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 15, in the Bracket Room at City Hall, 121 Fifth Ave. N., Edmonds.

These gatherings bring entrepreneurs together to meet, talk and share information about the challenges and rewards of starting a new business. The program, called 425 Launch and developed by the Economic Development Committee of the Edmonds Chamber of Commerce, seeks to strengthen the community by promoting and fostering ideas between aspiring and existing entrepreneurs.

The focus for the first session will be on the use of social media to launch a business and develop or sustain a client base.

Social media has become a household term these days and often is seen as the pathway to enhancing one’s business. It is important though to ask some important questions: Is it really the “magic bullet” for my business? Are there different ways to handle social media? Am I doing it the right way?

Guest presenter will be Karen Rosenzweig, a social media consultant and trainer and owner of One Smart Cookie Marketing. She has helped dozens of restaurants, food companies and entrepreneurs increase their customer base and gain visibility through Twitter, Facebook, blogging and other social media tools. You can see Rosenzweig’s articles online at myedmondsnews.com/columns.

Future discussions will take place with other entrepreneurs from the community and will also include panel discussions about subjects of interest for entrepreneurs, including navigating business licensing issues, funding possibilities, cash flow, social networking, technology, marketing and other issues determined by the group.
