United Way of Snohomish County has elected 11 new members to the Board of Directors. Board chairwoman is Kim Pastega, a Bothell resident who is director of manufacturing for the Boeing 777 program in Everett. New board members include: David Beyer, president of Everett Community College; Gary Cohn, Everett School District superintendent; Joyce Eleanor, CEO of Community Transit; Cindy Melland, executive vice president of sales and marketing for Frontier Bank; Mike Miller, vice president of manufacturing for Campbell’s StockPot; Preston Simmons, chief operating officer of Providence Regional Medical Center; Stephanie Walker, vice president of product and sales operations for Premera Blue Cross; Wally Webster, senior vice president (retired) of Bank of America; Kevin Weed, president and CEO of Perteet Inc.; Rich White, local government relations manager for the Boeing Co.; and Matthew Yerbic, president of Aviation Technical Services Inc. (Taurus Group).

The Monroe Chamber of Commerce plans a lunch meeting for noon Tuesday at the Rock Church, 16891 146th St. SE. A roundtable discussion on doing “Main Street”-style business in today’s economy is scheduled.
“Ten Things We Know About Our Economy,” an economic forecast luncheon with Rep. Rick Larsen, D-Wash., and Western Washington University economist Hart Hodges, is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. Thursday at the Everett Golf and Country Club. Haggen and Top Food stories are having a food drive benefiting local food banks through Nov. 18. They’re seeking canned food high in protein, canned fruit and other nonperishable food items. Donors also may purchase bags of groceries that include rice, pasta and soup for $5 apiece at Haggen and Top Food stores.
