EVERETT — Harbour Pointe Lincoln Mercury Mitsubishi has been acquired and closed by Ford Motor Co., but the dealership’s former lot already is being used by other dealers.
Ford bought the Harbour Pointe dealership along Evergreen Way from Becci Stupey as part of a plan to thin out its dealerships across the U.S. The business closed last month.
Stupey, who could not be reached for comment, opened Harbour Pointe Lincoln Mercury Mitsubishi in 2001. Her father, Dick Ollinger, also was a longtime Ford dealer, having owned Harris Ford in LynnÂwood until 2000.
Customers of Harbour Pointe are being advised to go to nearby Brien Ford for warranty service, according to MD Johnson Inc., the firm that handled the dealership’s sale.
Brien Ford also has agreed to by the Mitsubishi franchise from Harbour Pointe, meaning it will add that line to the vehicle selection at the Everett dealership. That arrangement still is pending final approval from Mitsubishi, said Rock Peterson, Brien Ford’s owner.
Peterson added, however, that he’s excited to add a new brand to his dealership.
“In this day and age, if we can have more choices for the customer in that 30-miles-per-gallon range, it’s beneficial,” he said.
Klein Honda, across the street from the Harbour Pointe lot, already has leased the property from its owner, Joe Pignataro. Klein was looking for space to expand.
Steve Klein said his sales have grown, so taking over the Harbour Pointe lot “was a great opportunity and wonderful fit for us to expand into the Lincoln Mercury facility.”
