EVERETT — The Frontier Communications vice president and general manager for Washington quit last week to take a job for direct competitor Comcast.

Vicky Oxley is expected to join Comcast on July 13 as the vice president of sales and marketing. She will work out of Comcast’s regional offices in Lynnwood.

“I’m grateful to Frontier Communications for a wonderful opportunity to work with great people in a great company, and I wish everyone there the best,” Oxley said in a statement released from Comcast.

“I’m excited about the opportunity to join the Comcast team and help present Xfinity’s cutting-edge products and services to current and future customers in Washington.”

A Frontier spokeswoman, when asked about the departure, released a short statement via email: “Vicky Oxley is no longer employed at Frontier Communications. As per usual, Frontier’s local general managers are available to address any customer concerns.”

She declined to say anything more, citing a company policy to not comment on personnel matters.

Oxley has worked in the telecommunications industry in the Puget Sound area for years. She spent time at McCaw Communications and continued working for the business when it became AT&T Wireless and then Cingular. She also worked about four years at Whatcounts, an email marketing startup in Seattle.

Oxley joined Frontier in February 2013 at the Everett office. She was in charge of a little more than 900 employees, with 480 based in Everett.

Frontier provides telephone, Internet and video services to more than 210,000 customers in Washington, operating from Snohomish County to the Canadian border, including most of Skagit, Island and Whatcom counties.

At Comcast, Oxley will be responsible for sales and marketing initiatives that include marketing campaigns, door-to-door direct sales and 17 Xfinity stores and customer service centers that serve more than 1.3 million customers.

Comcast’s service footprint in the state runs from Centralia and Grays Harbor north to Whatcom County and includes Spokane County.

Oxley will report to the Comcast’s Washington regional senior vice president.
