Ben Carson, who declared Monday he is running for president, has resigned from his longtime post on the Costco board of directors, the Issaquah-based company said Tuesday in a regulatory filing.
The company’s brief statement said he stepped down voluntarily “in light of the obligations of his political pursuits,” and it thanked him “for his nearly 16 years of dedicated service.”
Politically, the outspoken conservative stood out as a Republican on the board of Costco, whose executives have hosted high-profile, big-ticket Democratic fundraisers.
