If you’ve been watching the new “Bionic Woman” or checking out other new fall TV shows, you’ve seen the commercials showing the impossibly thin new Apple iMacs in sweeping, alluring camera angles, all set to techno music. For a longtime iMac fan like me, they make the new computer look irresistible, even if they are well over $1,000 apiece.
But this makes them a bit more resistible. Complaints began coming in not long after the new models’ release in August of unexplained freeze-ups. Apple claims the problem got more common after it released a software update last month.
Apple said it’s looking into the problem and will probably have to issue a software fix. For now, though, the only fix seems to be hitting the “restart” button on the new computers when they act like an ice cube and freeze.
