VANCOUVER, Wash. — A judge has sided with the Port of Vancouver, ruling that no state environmental laws were violated when the port approved a lease for an oil transfer terminal.
The Columbian reports that a three-judge appeals court panel on Tuesday upheld an earlier decision by a Clark County Superior Court judge.
Environmental groups Columbia Riverkeeper and the Northwest Environmental Defense Center had argued the Tesoro Corp. and Savage Companies oil terminal deal violated the State Environmental Policy Act by entering into a lease agreement before the plan underwent an environmental impact statement.
Despite the ruling, Columbia Riverkeeper says the port should have done more vetting of the proposal before approving the deal.
