UPDATED with St. Louis Machinists info
Several labor contracts with major aerospace suppliers are up for negotiation this summer. Here’s the latest:
Tuesday evening, Spirit AeroSystems and the Machinists union reached a tentative agreement for the 6,000 hourly employees at Spirit’s Wichita facility. The two have been in labor contract discussions since March. Union members there will vote on the contract Friday, but Machinists leaders are expected to recommend the contract.
Contract talks, however, haven’t gone so well between the Machinists and the Boeing Co. in St. Louis. Machinists there could walk out on strike as soon as Monday. The Machinists union said today that it will postpone a strike vote until Monday to give its 2,500 members time to consider the company’s latest offer.
Also, Triumph Composite Systems in Spokane has come to a tentative agreement with the Society of Professional Engineering Employees in Aerospace. SPEEA represents 43 engineers there.
