The popularity of daily deal websites is limited to younger and more affluent consumers, according to a recently released survey by consulting firm Accenture.
The survey revealed that while 37 percent of Americans are members of a daily deal site, 56 percent of Americans do not subscribe to any such sites and 42 percent “do not like anything” about the sites. This indicates that “a significant group of Americans do not like the deals and are conceivably finding other ways to save,” Tom Jacobson, a senior executive at Accenture, said in a release.
Accenture conducted an online survey in September among U.S. adults, collecting nearly 1,000 responses. The survey showed that of households with annual income of at least $150,000, 54 percent are signed up for a daily deal site. Participation drops to 27 percent when household income falls to $35,000 or less.
