From New America Media, here’s a report on racial disparities within the federal government’s America’s Recovery Capital loan program.
The story starts: “Loans handed out to struggling small businesses as part of President Barack Obama’s stimulus package have largely shut out minority businesses — especially those owned by Blacks and Latinos — according to data provided by the federal government’s Small Business Administration (SBA) to New America Media (NAM).”
Also on my recommended reading list today, the LA Times has a great story about what some small business owners are doing to try to stay above water in the new year.
