MUKILTEO — “Cool Girls in Aerospace,” a free, four-day program that teaches girls how to use math and science to “make cool stuff using the same materials that airplanes are made of,” is being offered again this summer by the City of Mukilteo in partnership with Edmonds Community College and the Washington Aerospace Training & Research Center (WATR). The program, which runs from August 14-17, provides up to 10 middle school girls with an introduction to careers in the aerospace industry.
Local girls, age 12 to 16, who will attend middle school or high school this fall are eligible to apply.
“These girls will have an opportunity to work in a real-life training lab at the WATR Center built to simulate world-class manufacturing facilities such as those here in Mukilteo,” Mukilteo Mayor Jennifer Gregerson said.
Applicants must complete an online application at bit.ly/2rcE4p3 and have parental approval to sign waiver forms. The application deadline is June 1.
