SEATTLE — The Ports of Seattle and Tacoma have announced plans to work together under on management structure.
The former business rivals will share operation of their marine cargo terminals and related functions.
In a joint announcement on Tuesday, officials at the state’s two largest container ports said they think the partnership will grow jobs and attract more cargo business.
They will hold public meetings and also accept public comments in other ways as they formalize their agreement and hire one person to run the combined operation.
During the transition period, the two current CEOs will work together but port officials say they plan on putting Port of Tacoma CEO John Wolfe in charge of the new Seaport Alliance.
