EVERETT – Oregon-based TOC Management Services plans to build a new office building in south Everett to house the firm’s new regional headquarters and training center.
Founded in 1960 by a group of lumber mill owners, the not-for-profit TOC serves more than 500 member companies in five states with help and training on employee relations, benefits, safety, workers’ compensation and other employer issues.
In January, TOC completed the purchase of 6 acres in the Seaway Center business park. The price of the land along 23rd Drive W. was not disclosed, but the Snohomish County Assessor’s Office values the parcel at $942,000.
TOC plans an office building on the site with 18,000 to 20,000 square feet, which will include a training center.
The decision to move the regional office from King County was the result of careful thought.
“We’ve done some strategic planning, and your area is where we’re having the most rapid growth in our organization,” said Rodger Glos, TOC’s president.
He said a number of TOC’s member businesses are in Everett and northward, so the move from the company’s cramped quarters in Bothell’s North Creek area makes sense.
“We’re also getting a sense that Everett really understands the benefit of attracting businesses,” Glos said.
TOC hopes to be in its new home by fall 2008. Design work on the building is taking place now, Glos said. When open, it will house 20 or more TOC employees, making it TOC’s second-largest location.
