Ric Shallow of Bank of America in Stanwood has completed training for the use of Federal Housing Administration’s 203k home purchase and renovation program. He has earned the designation of a 203k specialist, which allows him to approve loans for fixer-uppers and to coordinate their renovation.

Kimberly Harris, president of Puget Sound Energy, has been named chief executive officer of the utility. She succeeds Steve Reynolds, who retired.

Gerry Schultz and John Ponticelli, chefs at the Tulalip Resort Casino, were honored earlier this year at a national competition, the Catersouce Conference and Trade Show in Las Vegas. Schultz won Best in Show in a vote of attendees and Ponticelli won most innovative in a vote of trade show professionals.

The sixth annual Mukilteo Business Showcase will be 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Future of Flight Aviation Center in Mukilteo. Columbia Bank will hold a grand opening at its new Everett branch from 1 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at 11102 Evergreen Way. There will be hors d’oeuvres and refreshments.

Jack Wagner, president and chief executive of Washington Banking Co., will participate in the Washington Banks Panel at a financial services conference Tuesday in Marina del Rey, Calif.

Business news

Everett-based Intermec Inc. has completed its acquisition of Vocollect Inc., which provides voice-centric computer equipment for warehouse workers. The price was about $197 million. Company officials said they expected the purchase to add $10 million to consolidated revenue.

New business

AAA Washington has opened a new office at 15415 Main St., Suite 104, in Mill Creek. The office will be open from 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and will include a small travel store for the sale of luggage and accessories. The office will include two travel agents, a travel counselor, and two insurance agents. Call 425-337-1880.

New products

Fluke Corp. has introduced its 5522A Multi-Product Calibrator, an upgrade of the most popular calibrator in the world. The tool is used to calibrate a wind range of instruments and electronic test equipment.
