SYDNEY, Australia — Ground crew guided the first Qantas Airbus A380 into a hanger after landing at Sydney Airport in Australia on Sunday, two years behind schedule.
Qantas said the Airbus, which has a 525-seat capacity, but which Qantas has configured to carry 450 passengers, will make its inaugural commercial flight from Melbourne, Australia, to Los Angeles on Oct. 20.
Airbus will meet its target of delivering 12 A380 super jumbo aircraft this year, the company’s CEO Tom Enders pledged Friday, brushing aside speculation that manufacturing and engineering difficulties had again put the project behind schedule.
