FedEx could order as many as 50 cargo jets, according to a Bloomberg report.
The company is in talks with the Boeing Co. and Airbus. FedEx is looking at Airbus’ A330 freighters and Boeing’s 767 freighters.
For Boeing, the order would help tide the jet maker’s 767 production line over until it begins building 767-based tankers for the U.S. Air Force. Boeing’s backlog only carry production over two more years.
For Airbus, the order would be a nice win for its A330 freighter, which hasn’t logged an impressive number of orders, 57, since its launch four years ago.
