Jet engine-maker Rolls-Royce plans to add to new facilities in Virginia and in Singapore to keep up with industry demand, according to the company’s press statement.
Two of the commercial planes driving demand are Airbus’s A350 XWB and Boeing’s 787 Dreamliner. Rolls will build a factory in Singapore for assembly of both its Trent 1000, used on Boeing’s 787, and its Trent XWB, used on the A350.
The U.K.-based company will put in a factory in Virginia to test and assemble its RB282 engine picked by Dassault for its corporate jet. The Virginia site could also be used for manufacturing the F136 engine for the Joint Strike Fighter.
