I assume it won’t shock you if I say that 2009 was not kind to small business. The death toll is high — about 400,000 businesses with fewer than 100 employees folded this year.
That’s according to an article the New York Times ran today examining seven small businesses that failed in 2009.
But in the interest of fairness (and maybe not depressing readers too much), the Times has a counterpoint article. Here’s the paper’s piece on businesses that thrived in 2009.
