Seattle coffee roaster Tully’s plans to open four of its coffee shops at the Boeing Co.’s Everett site, with two of them set to open inside the company’s mammoth jet factory in April.
“It’ll perk up the factory,” said Carol Lawrence, a spokeswoman with Boeing’s Shared Services Group.
Tully’s will open the first two stores this spring in areas where workers assemble 747s and build 747 tooling.
The third shop will open inside the factory later in the year, in a space area between the 777 and 787 assembly line areas. Tully’s also plans a shop at Boeing’s Everett delivery center, which is adjacent to the Paine Field flight line, across Highway 526 from the main Everett factory.
It will be the first time Boeing has brought in outside coffee vendors at the Everett site, spokeswoman Debbie Heathers said. Each shop will be staffed by Tully’s workers and will offer coffee, specialty drinks and take-away food items.
Both companies will benefit from the arrangement, Lawrence said. Tully’s is getting access to the roughly 20,000 people who work for Boeing in Everett, and Boeing is giving its employees a convenient way to get something they want.
“People wanted coffee,” Lawrence said. “Our people have asked for this for a long time.”
In a statement issued by Tully’s, coffee company president John Dresel called it “a great moment” for his company. “To be chosen to serve Boeing is a marvelous business opportunity and a true honor.”
Tully’s will open a fifth shop at the site of Boeing’s new Shared Services Group building in Renton later this year. The agreement between the two companies opens the door for more sites in the future.
