ARLINGTON — Pharmacist John Billdt said the recent purchase of his business by Arlington Pharmacy should create a stronger independent business.
John and Sharon Billdt, owners of Cascade Medical Center, have closed their doors.
Billdt said he and four staff members have moved to Arlington Pharmacy at 540 N. West Ave in the downtown area. He said that customer prescription records have been transformed to the new location.
Billdt, who spent 28 years with the business, said it was time for a change. The doctors in his building are planning to move their clinic to Smokey Point in 2012, he noted. “An empty clinic does not bode well for a successful pharmacy business,” he said.
The two pharmacies were the only independents in town, Billdt said, noting that most pharmacies are members of chains these days.
Arlington Pharmacy owner Cory Duskin agreed with Billdt that the purchase should create a stronger independent business.
“I think we both had our niches and by putting them together, they don’t leave the community,” Duskin said.
He noted that his business specialized in things like long-term care and the compounding of medications. Billdt said that among his specialties were wound care supplies and equipment such as wheelchairs, walkers, and braces.
All those services will be at the new location.
