The plane maker’s director of European affairs made the comment as Airbus and the European Union accused Boeing of taking unfair handouts from the United States – handouts that include the tax breaks granted by Washington state to Boeing to assemble its 787 Dreamliner here.
The European Union alleges that Airbus has lost $27 billion in revenue over the past three years because of illegal subsidies the U.S. government gave Boeing. The EU made its case during a World Trade Organization hearing Wednesday.
Boeing and the United States previously presented their case to the WTO, alleging European countries illegally gave Airbus $23 billion over four decades, or $205 billion with interest included.
The WTO had been expected to rule on Boeing’s claims in December but the ruling has been delayed.
