One Everett entrepreneur is taking a stand: No more bottled water in her coffee shop.
Marilyn Rosenberg, owner of Zippy’s Java Lounge on Hewitt Avenue, is encouraging other business owners to do the same.
She says selling bottled water is bad for the environment – not to mention harmful to customers’ pocketbooks.
“Consumers are wasting billions of dollars a year on billions of gallons of bottled water in large part because advertising spin has led them to believe that water in a bottle is safer or better than tap water,” Rosenberg wrote in an email to the Herald.
Tomorrow, Zippy’s will stop serving bottled water. The coffee shop will still sell beverages in glass bottles.
Rosenberg said businesses that want to take similar steps can visit www.takebackthetap.org to find out more.
