Sand sculpting
The annual Edmonds sand sculpting contest is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at Marina Beach, 470 Admiral Way. Form a team or build on your own. The event is free and open to all ages. Sign up at 10 a.m.. Judging is at noon and awards will be presented at 12:30 p.m. Bring your buckets, shovels and plenty of imagination.
Forum scheduled: The city of Everett is holding a community forum from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Public Utility District auditorium, 2320 California St. Titled “Public Safety Innovations,” the forum will focus on ways communities are dealing with mental illness and addiction, including the combination of traditional policing with social services. The event is free, and part of a series of forums in the Everett Safe Streets Plan.
Rally planned: In response to the numerous recent tragedies across the nation, there will be a “Love Thy Neighbor” peace rally at 7 p.m. Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church, 6215 196th St. SW in Lynnwood. It will be emceed by Lynnwood City Council President M. Christopher Boyer, who also is the pastor of Good Shepherd Baptist Church. Guest speakers will include Lynnwood Mayor Nicola Smith, interim Police Chief Bryan Stanifer and Janice Greene, the president of the Snohomish County Chapter of the NAACP.
