With the passing of every calendar year, the all-electric option is becoming more and more viable.
The 2025 Audi A5 Sportback e-tron quattro is the latest case in point. The all-new model stands out as the most aerodynamic, and longest range electric vehicle in the Audi fleet. Sportback creates a distinctive look combined with functionality.
A6 e-tron is a performance-focused, electric Sportback that features two dual motors for all-wheel drive, plus an 800-volt system for ultra-fast charging. It generates 456 horsepower, 3.7 seconds acceleration from 0-to-60 miles per hour, and includes an EPA-estimated range of 377 miles on a complete charge. What’s not to like about those numbers? Perhaps only the $76,645 price tag.
Charge times are another factor keeping electronic modes from becoming mainstream. Audi engineers have an answer for that as well. The A6 Sportback can achieve 10-to-80% battery capacity recharging in as little as 21 minutes, helping get drivers back on the road faster when using DC fast charge services. Even the Level 2 charger in my garage was able to add 100-150 miles of range in just a few hours.
What about storage space, you ask? Surely the luxury sport model lacks in that department? Nope. Sportback has the ability to fully and independently fold flat the 40:20:40 second row of seats, providing up to 39.9 cubic feet of interior storage space. A load area up to 6 feet 2 inches deep is also possible thanks to the liftgate design of the rear hatch and convenience of the fold flat second row and provides excellent functionality whether for passengers or for ample luggage and other cargo.
I treated my 90-year old in-laws to a scenic drive along the low-lying roads of the Skagit and Stillaquamish Rivers a couple days before they became impassible. Audi’s interior was the star of the show. What impressed them most were:
Comfy, cozy leather seats that can be heated or cooled with the push of a button.
Bang & Olufsen sound system that belted Warm 106.9 Christmas tunes with crystal clear clarity.
Panoramic glass room with variable light control.
Three-zone climate control that kept them warm.
And the purple and gold ambient lighting that kicked in as the day turned dark and stormy
My personal favorites were the wireless phone charging pad, adaptive cruise control, auto-dimming rearview mirror, and Audi’s virtual cockpit with its 11.9-inch display screen to dial in all the goodies.
The Audi A6 Sportback e-tron exterior evokes dynamic elegance. Highlights include a “Magnet Gray” coat of enamel, low ride height, extra-wide grille, 20-inch, five-arm, aero design wheels in a bicolor finish, all-season run-flat tires, illuminated Audi rings, and digital OLED taillights.
With the A6 Sportback e-tron driver assistance systems, Audi provides a wide range of functions which come as standard at market launch. These functions, which are designed to make everyday life easier and can help increase road safety, include: emergency braking, rearview camera, lane departure warning with emergency assist, distraction and drowsiness warning, exit warning, front and rear cross-traffic assist, rear turn assist, parking assist, and an array of safety bags.
There are way more electronic and performance gadgetry to discuss, but space and attention spans disuade me from discussing. But for those inclined, a test drive is strongly recommended in case Santa is asked to deliver the ultimate gift December 25th.
