2025 Audi SQ8 Is A Luxury, Hot Rod, SUV

500 Horsepower and 4.0-Second, 0-To-60 MPH Speed

The 2025 Audi SQ8 is a stunning luxury sport SUV engineered to leave a memorable mark.

Audi’s flagship model delivers a perfect balance of SUV functionality with S model performance.

Equipped with a remarkable 500-horsepower 4.0L twin-turbocharged TFSI V8 engine, the SQ8 allows one to break free from the ordinary. The standard eight-speed Tiptronic automatic transmission ensures a smooth driving experience with effortless shifting, particularly when combined with the optional sport adaptive air suspension, which continually responds and adjusts to road conditions to help enhance handling and comfort.

The powertrain comes with standard quattro all-wheel drive, and accelerates from 0-60 mph in 4.0 seconds. It comes with a 450-mile range, and delivers 21 miles per gallon fuel economy in combined city/highway driving thanks to an on-demand cylinder deactivation system. With the optional towing package, which comes with a tow hitch receiver and seven-pin connector, the SQ8 is capable of towing up to 7,700 pounds.

SQ8 seats up to five passengers, with a generous cargo area that stows multiple golf bags, weekend luggage, or even camping gear. Plus, it comes with a space-saving spare tire, just in case.

Model year updates include a bolder exterior design, upgraded lighting technology, revised front and rear fascias, new wheels and exterior colors, and new decorative interior inlays, along with Audi connect technology upgrades. My tester came with a “Daytona Gray Pearl Effect” coat of enamel.

My tester included almost $30,000 in optional equipment, highlighted by a “Prestige Package” ($7,300) with dual-pane acoustic glass side windows, front eats with ventilation and massage, HD matrix-design LED headlights, heads-up display, heated rear seats, OLED taillights, and remote park assist.

The “S Sport” package ($6,000) adds active roll stabilization and sport rear differential, and red brake calipers. Other upgrades include a Bang & Olufsen advanced 3D sound system ($4,900), “Luxury Package” ($3,700) with leather seats, dash, upper doors, console and armrest, “23-inch wheel package ($2,500), plus “Carbon, and Black Optic” packages.

The remainder of this review could describe the Audi SQ8’s creature comforts. The Cliff Notes version includes stainless steel pedals and footrest, four-zone automatic climate control, auto-dimming rearview mirror with digital compass, illuminated door sill inlays, wireless phone charging, 12.3-in. Audi virtual cockpit plus display, wireless Apple CarPlay and Google Android Auto capability, 23 speakers, MMI touch, and Sirius XM.

A road trip with my in-laws included a trip north, across the Deception Pass bridge, and the length of Whidbey Island to the Clinton ferry terminal. Passengers came way impressed most with the SQ8’s road manners and quiet cabin. SQ8 seemingly floats down the road, smoothing over road imperfections and allowing for conversations without shouting.

All-wheel steering enhances handling by turning the rear wheels in the opposite direction to the front at low speeds. At high speeds, it improves stability by having the rear wheels turn in the same direction as the front.

Out of sight, and mind, are a plethora of safety features and technology that allow your family to commute safely, and with confidence.

Highlights include adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning with automatic braking, front and rear parking sensors with surround view cameras, lane departure warning, blind spot warning, rear cross-traffic warning, antilock braking with brake assist, and eight airbags to protect front and rear passengers.
