The 2026 Honda Passport has been reimagined to blur the lines between an on- and off-road
mid-size SUV.
The first-ever TrailSport Elite trim offers a class-leading combination of rugged design, authentic
off-road capability, and next-level versatility together with exceptional on-road performance. In a
nutshell, it delivers the best of both worlds.
Passport plays a pivotal role in our Honda lineup, with the highest conquest rate of any Honda
SUV and more buyers under-40 than key competitors in its segment," said Jessika Laudermilk,
assistant vice president of Honda National Auto Sales. "We expect the authentic rugged design
and off-road performance of the all-new 2026 Passport and Passport TrailSport to attract even
more young, active, weekend adventurers to the Honda brand.”
Passport comes in three trims: RTL is the base model, while the TrailSport focuses on off-road
capability with features like recovery hooks and orange daytime running lights. The top-tier
TrailSport Elite builds on the TrailSport with enhanced luxury and technology, such as a hands-
free power tailgate and a multi-view camera system with TrailWatch.
My top-of-the-line TrailSport Elite tester was powered by a 3.5-liter, V6 engine with variable
cylinder management. Paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission with all-wheel drive
system, the combination generates 285 horsepower and 262 lb.-ft. of torque. It provides a 370-
mile range and about 22 miles per gallon fuel economy down the highway.
Integrated drive modes include Normal, Econ, Sport, Snow, Tow and Trail to cover all the bases.
Hill start assist is also standard.
Passport seats up to five adults with expanded storage space in the cabin that includes two-tier
door bins, a large multi-use tray ahead of the shifter that can accommodate two smartphones
side-by-side, a massive console bin that fits a full-size tablet, and a clever passenger-side
instrument panel shelf. Passport is equipped with 10 large cupholders throughout the cabin,
including six that will fit wide 32 oz water bottles.
Cargo space is also supplied in abundance, with 44.0 cubic feet of cargo space behind the
second row of seats, and a maximum of 83.8 cubic feet with the second row folded down. It also
features an underfloor storage area, optional cargo shelf that converts into a table, and the
ability to hold two full-size adult mountain bikes with their front wheels removed when the rear
seats are folded.
The creature comfort list does not disappoint. Highlights include leather-trimmed, heated and
ventilated seats, Bose premium audio system with 12 speakers, panoramic moonroof with tilt
and slide functions, wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and phone charger, tri-zone climate
control, push-button shifter and parking brake, navigation, and more.
Exterior features worthy of note include 18-inch alloy wheels, heated windshield, auto high
beams, LED fog lights, auto-dimming side mirrors, puddle lights, remote engine start, walk away
auto lock, security system and roof rails.
Based on the longstanding Honda "Safety for Everyone" approach, a commitment to advance
safety for everyone sharing the road, the next-generation Passport is a safety performance
leader in the midsize SUV class with advanced active and passive safety technology standard
on all models.
The suite includes a collision mitigation braking system, road departure mitigation, lane-keeping
assist with adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, traffic sign recognition, cross-traffic
monitoring, front and rear parking sensors and a driver attention monitor.
