A cynical, anti-American Hollywood filmmaker sets out on a crusade to abolish the Fourth of July holiday in “An American Carol.” From David Zucker (“Airplane!,” “The Naked Gun,” etc.), the movie is a rebuttal to the leftist political leanings of many Hollywood figures. The filmmaker character is named Michael Malone, none-too-subtlely based on Michael Moore and portrayed by Kevin Farley (above, left), the younger brother of the late Chris Farley. He is visited by the ghosts of three American heroes — George Washington, George S. Patton (Kelsey Grammer, above) and John F. Kennedy — who try to convince him he’s got it all wrong. When terrorists from Afghanistan realize they need to recruit more operatives, they begin a search for just the right person to help produce a new propaganda video. Malone unwittingly helps them with their plans to launch another attack on American soil. The movie, rated PG-13 for rude and irreverent content, for language and for brief drug material, opens today at Alderwood Mall, Everett, Galaxy Monroe, Marysville, Meridian and Cascade Mall.
