The Tamalin Soleil Baumgarten Exhibit is showing through Nov. 30 at the Mountlake Terrace Library, 23300 58th Ave. W.
Baumgarten practices representational painting to bring her subject to life and reveal the emotions the subject inspires.
Baumgarten was the Peoples’ Choice Award Winner for the 2010 Arts of the Terrace. She earned a Bachelor of Fine Art from the Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle. She also studied intensive portrait painting at the Gage Academy of Art in Seattle and introduction to oil painting at the Art Students League of New York.
Photos of Croatia at Savvy Traveler
Pictures by Seattle photographer Sam Evich will be on display Nov. 17 at the Savvy Traveler, 112 Fifth Ave. S, Edmonds.
Evich’s exhibit will include photographs from his travels to Croatia. He will also release his new book, “Dalmatia,” which chronicles his travels along the Dalmatian coast of Croatia from 2003 to 2007.

OBT performs ‘The Nutcracker’
Olympic Ballet Theatre (OBT) breathes fresh air into The Nutcracker, with new Directors Mara Vinson and Oleg Gorboulev leading the way.
New energy, new guest artists and new choreography for the Snow Scene and the entire second act will be brought to audiences in Edmonds, Everett and Arlington by Vinson and Gorboulev.

The Shoreline-Lake Forest Park Arts Council is looking for local and regional bands to perform at the council’s 2012 Summer Concerts in the Park and the Shoreline Arts Festival.

Auditions for ‘Charlie Brown’
King’s Players is holding auditions for its production of “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown.”
The cast is three or four men, and two or three women. Additional actors of all ages will be cast in supporting roles.
While the main characters are children, adults will be cast in the roles of Charlie Brown, Linus, Snoopy, Schroeder, Lucy and Sally.
Auditions are 7-9:30 p.m. Nov. 18 and 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Nov. 19 at the Maplewood Presbyterian Church, 19523 84th Ave. W, Edmonds. Callbacks are 3-6 p.m. Nov. 20.
Auditioners should prepare a monologue of no longer than 1-2 minutes, as well as 16-20 bars of a song of their own selection and/or bars 1-18 of “Happiness” from “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown.”

Local star performs with SMC
For their 32nd season opener, the Seattle Men’s Chorus welcomes home Bellevue native and Broadway and TV star Megan Hilty as the guest artist for the opening weekend of their holiday concert “Cool Yule,” subtitled “The Big Band Theory.”
This annual holiday musical extravaganza includes a live swing band, complete with brass and saxophones, as well as a program filled with holiday favorites.
The chorus will perform nine Seattle concerts, plus two additional concerts in Tacoma and Everett.

Seattle Symphony performs Rachmaninov
Guest Conductor Robert Spano leads the Seattle Symphony and pianist Kirill Gerstein in Sergey Rachmaninov’s piano masterpiece Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini.
The Seattle Symphony Chorale and soprano Julianne Gearhart will join the orchestra for Francis Poulenc’s Gloria, and the concert will conclude with Jean Sibelius’ Symphony No. 2.
Performances are 7:30 p.m. Nov. 10; 8 p.m. Nov. 12; and 2 p.m. Nov. 13, at Benaroya Hall, 200 University St., Seattle.
