Computer mismatch
Go see the free film at the Everett Library at 2 p.m. today. It’s Walter Lang’s “Desk Set,” starring Spencer Tracy and Katharine Hepburn. The magnetic screen couple go head-to-head (as usual) in the1957 classic comedy. Tracy is an efficiency expert brought in to computerize a company’s research department headed by Hepburn. The film is an introduction to a Museum of Snohomish County History’s exhibit, Yesterday’s Tomorrows, which opens Oct. 22.
Book-It to Granite
Book-It Repertory Theatre will present “Danger Books” at 7 p.m. Monday at Granite Falls Library. Book-It brings books to life to with readings by actors who then open the floor for discussions. “Danger Books” are books that have been banned for some reason in the past, such as “Dracula,” “The Handmaid’s Tale,” “Johnny Get Your Gun” and “Go Ask Alice.” This event is geared for teens to adults.
Redwall reading
Scott’s Bookstore in Mount Vernon presents author Brian Jacques who will speak and read from his two new books in the Redwall series, “High Rhulain” and “The Redwall Cookbook,” at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Lincoln theater, 712 S. First St., Mount Vernon. Tickets are $5, but you’ll get one free with the purchase of either of Jacques’ new books at Scott’s or the Snow Goose Bookstore in Stanwood. Proceeds benefit the Skagit Literacy Council.
