It’s not quite Sundance or Cannes, but Bothell is having a film fest of its own this week.
On Wednesday and Thursday, the University of Washington’s Bothell campus hosts its first Independent Film Festival, sponsored by the Indigenous Media and Film class. The free screenings will be followed by a discussion and there will even be free snacks and beverages.
Wednesday, the festival schedule includes showings of “White Shamans and Plastic Medicine Men” at 3 p.m., “Reclaiming Our Children: A Story of the Indian Child Welfare Act” at 4:30 p.m. and “Signs of the Time: A Documentary on Homelessness Across America,” at 5:15 p.m.
Thursday showings include “Soldiers of Necker” at 3 p.m., followed by “The Corporal’s Diary” at 5:15 p.m.
Screenings will be held at UW-Bothell, 18115 Campus Way NE, Bothell, and are free with a donation of canned or nonperishable food. Proceeds benefit Northwest Harvest. For more information, go to courses.washington.edu/filmfest or www.myspace.com/uwbindyfilmfest.
