Snohomish County

“Over the River and Through the Woods”: This comedy by Joe DiPietro is offered by Phoenix Theatre at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday, April 10 through May 3, at 9673 Firdale Ave. N., Edmonds. The cast includes J. Woody Lotts, Larry Albert, Micheal McFadden, Susan Conner and Rebekah Dawn. The story is about Nick, a single, Italian-American guy from New Jersey. When a new job threatens to take Nick away from his beloved Italian grandparents, who sees each Sunday for dinner, they begin scheming to keep him in town. For information and tickets, go to www.phoenixtheatreedmonds.org or call 206-533-2000.

“Pageant—The Musical”: Ballyhoo Theatre presents the show at 7 p.m. April 10, 7 and 11:30 p.m. April 11 and 2 p.m. April 12 at Edmonds Heights K-12, 23200 100th Ave. W., Edmonds. It’s like no beauty pageant you’ve seen. Six contestants — all played by men — vie for the title of Miss Glamouresse. The competitions: swimsuit, talent, evening gown and spokesmodel. Directed by Shileah Corey, the cast is made up of alumni from the Ballyhoo and Edmonds Heights programs. Tickets for this fundraiser to send high school students to the National Thespian Festival are $10 and will be available at the door.

“The Wonder Bread Years”: Pat Hazell’s funny, fast-paced one-man show is 7:30 p.m. April 16, Edmonds Center for the Arts, 410 Fourth Ave. N. Edmonds. Tickets are $34, $29 and $24. Call the box office at 425-275-9595. Hazell’s performance is a salute to escapism and the baby boom generation, akin to opening a time capsule packed with the most common youth-filled joys of childhood, such as Hula Hoop contests, lawn darts, Kool-Aid, Rock ‘Em, Sock ‘Em Robots, Big Wheels, Eskimo Pies, Clackers, Toughskin jeans and riding in the way back of the Country Squire station wagon.

“Farce of Nature”: Everett’s Reunion Theatre Group presents the comedy April 17 through 19, 24 through 26 and May 1 through 3 at the Music Hall Playhouse behind Macy’s at the Everett Mall. Reserve tickets by calling 425-268-2187. Cost is $15 general admission, $11 for students, seniors and military. More information is at www.reuniontheatregroup.org.

“A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum”: This is a toga party you don’t want to miss. Sondheim satire at its best, this is the musical tale of a slave who attempts to win his freedom by helping his young master woo the girl next door. That is, if he can keep his story straight. The show features such songs as “Comedy Tonight” and “Everybody Ought to Have a Maid.” Edmonds Driftwood Players perform at 8 p.m. Thursday, Friday, Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday, April 17 through May 10 at the Wade James Theatre, 950 Main St., Edmonds. Directed by Martin Mackenzie. Call 425-774-9600.

Village Theatre in Everett: Tickets are on sale now for the new musical comedy, with a murderous twist, “No Way to Treat a Lady,” which plays the Everett Performing Arts Center May 1 through 24. Steve Tomkins directs and RJ Tancioco, who grew up in Mountlake Terrace, is the music director. The cast includes Village Theatre favorites Nick DeSantis, Bobbi Kotula, Jessica Skerritt, Dane Stokinger and Jayne Muirhead. Also, tickets are available for “Cabaret,” which plays Everett July 10 through Aug. 2. Directed by Pulitzer prize winner Brian Yorkey, the show stars Billie Wildrick, who grew up in Snohomish, as well as other Seattle musical theater stars Brian Earp, Jason Collins, Anne Allgood and Peter Crook. For information go to villagetheatre.org or call 425-257-8600.

Tickets start at $30. For more information, call the PNB box office at 206-441-2424. Swan Lake presents the ultimate challenge for ballerinas, the dual role of Odette, trapped in the body of a white swan until the oath of her true love sets her free, and Odile, the “Black Swan” temptress.

Charity Dance Project and Marysville Performing Arts: The spring charity performance, “Dopamine and Novel Things,” is 4 p.m. April 19 in the PUD Auditorium, 2320 California St., Everett.
