Angela Reed calls herself an acoustic songstress and perhaps that should sum it up for this singer, who has one of those powerful voices that is hard to categorize.
Reviews posted on Reed’s Web site describe her as a singer who may lean toward the folk genre in a lyrical way, as in Sarah McLachlan, but her hard-driving product is also reminiscent of Melissa Ethridge.
This 20-something songstress has been inspired by such artists as Joni Mitchell, Ani Difranco and Jeff Buckley, but doesn’t sound like any of them.
Singer Judy Collins commented that “Angela Reed has the voice of an earth angel — sweet and vibrant and memorable. A rare singer who will fly far.”
Reed is landing in Everett for a solo show starting at 7 p.m. Saturday at A Gathering Grove coffee shop, 2820 Oakes Ave., Everett.
The show is free but donations are welcome.
