The Everett Animal Shelter hosts thousands of stray and unwanted animals every year. Some are adopted right away, but some sit in the shelter for weeks at a time, waiting for a home. The shelter has dogs and cats, as well as some rabbits and birds, all looking for a loving home.
All pets are vaccinated, spayed or neutered, and given a identifying microchip before they are adopted. Take a look at some of the dogs, cats and other animals that are available for adoption at the shelter now.
If you’re interested in adopting an animal, the shelter is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information, call 425-257-6000.
BMW came to us as a fairly timid cat, but she has come a long way since her arrival! She now enjoys socializing with staff and volunteers. She may be a little shy when she first meets you, but is very sweet once she warms up. As with any cat, we recommend a slow and cautious introduction to any other cats, dogs, or young kids in the home to make the transition as comfortable as possible. Jane is a total love bug with a relaxed attitude on life. She first came to us towards the end of 2017 with some very serious neck wounds. It took a couple months of treatment, but she healed up and went to a new home. Unfortunately, she continued to scratch at her neck, did not receive any veterinary care, and was brought back to the shelter a year later. She also gained quite a bit of weight during that time and is now in need of some significant weight loss. But it hasn’t affected Jane’s great spirit! We have worked tirelessly to get her healed so we can get her a forever home and she is finally ready. After trying many treatments, we believe she has food allergies and she will need to continue with her hypoallergenic diet long term and cannot have any other foods. She currently has some very cute hot pink soft paws on her nails to prevent scratching, but she probably won’t need them down the road. Jane is mostly a lay around kind of gal and loves a lap to park it on, but will run around for some toys now and again and especially likes little mice to chew on. She doesn’t always get along with other cats, but may adjust over time and we do not know how she is with dogs. But she does very well in a busy household, so we think she is likely to adjust to most situations. Come give this sweetheart the loving home she deserves. She is a staff favorite and we want her to have a place to call her own! (Arleigh Movitz/Everett Animal Shelter)
