Powerful Tools for Caregivers is a six-week class that helps teach people how to provide care for loved ones while taking care of themselves.
The course is meant for nonprofessional caregivers, and seeks to provide skills and confidence, both in taking care of others and in remembering to nourish themselves.
Caregivers should develop a wealth of tools to reduce personal stress, communicate effectively in challenging situations, cope with difficult emotions and make tough care-giving decisions.
The class is scheduled for 1 to 3:30 p.m. Jan. 18 through Feb. 22 at the Stillaguamish Senior Center, Multipurpose Room, 18308 Smokey Point Blvd., Arlington.
A $25 refundable deposit is required for course materials.
For more information or to register, call Debra Cook at 360-653-4551, ext. 236.
The class is sponsored by the Snohomish County Family Caregiver Support Program.
