Mickey Mouse is planning a party for his friends, and they’re all coming to share the fun with local fans.

The cast of “Playhouse Disney Live!” — a children’s TV show now with a stage version — will take the stage at noon Sunday at Comcast Arena at Everett Events Center.

The show stems from the “Playhouse Disney” TV episodes featuring “The Little Einsteins,” “Handy Manny,” “My Friends Tigger &Pooh” and “Clubhouse Disney,” which features Mickey, Minnie, Donald Duck and Goofy.

“Playhouse Disney Live!” follows the work of planning a party, mainly focusing on music. The Little Einsteins are sent on a globe-spanning trip to find a perfect song, and Handy Manny and his tools are sent to find a beat for the song. Tigger, Pooh and their new friend, Darby, go off seeking music in the Hundred Acre Wood.

“The show is really about finding music everywhere around us, and encouraging the audience to do that in their lives,” performer Trina Shumsonk said. “For instance, as the characters show that they can find a song out in nature, in the Hundred Acre Wood, that just proves that people can find music around them in everyday life, too.”

Shumsonk said it’s important for children to see “these heroes that they love, that teach them things every day, and to see them on a live theater stage, because this is an interactive show. We can’t really do the show without help from the audience,” she said.

For instance, she said, the Little Einsteins have a rocket that is powered by noise from audience members patting their hands against their laps, and the audience says the magic phrase, “Meeska Mooska Mickey Mouse,” to find Mickey, or to help him accomplish tasks.

“Everyone comes together to share the universal language of music with children everywhere,” producer Kenneth Feld said in press materials.

The show is intended for preschool-age children and their families.
