Some say flamenco has a magic that evokes many human emotions.
The performance, “3 Glorias, Flamenco en Vivo,” aims to bring out a spectrum of those emotions.
“3 Glorias, Flamenco en Vivo” is a tribute to the three components of flamenco: voice, guitar and dance. The show is presented by Seattle native and flamenco dancer Savannah Fuentes and two other highly rated performers.
Gypsy singer Saray Munoz will be making her West Coast debut with Fuentes. Munoz’s powerful voice has earned her extensive touring contracts with flamenco superstars.
Born into a family of Gypsy flamenco artists, Munoz began singing as a child. Her mother, Tina, died when Munoz was 19 and within two years, Munoz took her mother’s place touring in Spain and beyond with her aunt, Carmela, as “Las Grecas.” After three years of touring, Munoz decided to become a solo artist.
In 2005, she was contracted by the world famous dancer Joaquin Cortes to sing in his show “Mi Soledad.” For the next five years she performed throughout the world as a core member of the famed company, according to her biography.
Munoz will be accompanied by Gypsy artist, guitarist and composer Pedro Cortes, who comes from a family of Spanish Gypsy guitarists and has been on stage since he was 17. Cortes is known for his masterful and intricate flamenco guitar, his biography said.
“3 Glorias, Flamenco en Vivo” begins at 7 p.m. Saturday at The Black Box Theatre at Edmonds Community College, 20310 68th Ave. W, Lynnwood.
General admission is $25, students and faculty $15 and children $12. Go to www.brownpapertickets.com.
