Edmonds Marsh Estuary Advocates has named the winners of its challenge to Paint the Marsh.
First-place honors went to, by category: Essence of the Marsh: Johanne Friedrichs; Vision of the Future Marsh: Lorraine Goddard; Artists younger than 18: Audrey Hartman.
Runners-up were Dawn Ambrey for Essence of the Marsh, Alejandra Gos for Vision of the Future Marsh and Esther Arrington in the Youth category. Honorable mention awards went to Ray Braun, Aaron Rutten and Mary Ann Jones.
Contest rules allowed the artist to choose the medium, and the winners are works in oils, pastels and digital media. The winning artworks can be seen at www.edmondsmarshestuary.org/painting-contest.
The event was sponsored by the Edmonds Marsh Estuary Advocates, an environmental organization made up of local volunteers who are concerned about the condition of the Edmonds Marsh and its potential to support orcas and salmon.
