Seahawks vs. 49ers: Watch the NFC championship game between the Seattle Seahawks and the San Francisco 49ers for free on the big screen at Historic Everett Theatre. It’s suitable for all ages. Food, including one beverage, will be available for $12; beer and wine will also be available and the concession stand will be open. Starlight Beach Walk: Join Edmonds Discovery Programs and WSU Snohomish County Extension Beach Watchers for a low tide beach walk under the stars from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Jan. 27; Olympic Beach, 200 Admiral Way, Edmonds. The event is free; no registration is required. Bring a flashlight and dress warmly.

Fathers and daughters Valentine’s Dance: Marysville Parks and Recreation is offering two dance sessions on two Saturdays. Choose between 5:30 to 7 p.m. and 7:30 to 9 p.m. Feb. 1 or Feb. 8. Dances are in the Cedarcrest Middle School cafeteria, 6400 88th St. NE in Marysville. Registeration is required. Go online at http://marysvillewa.gov or stop by the parks office during business hours, Jennings Memorial Park, 6915 Armar Road. Cost is $20 per couple and $5 for each additional daughter attending the same session. A disc jockey will be on hand, refreshments will be served and photographers will capture the night. THEATER

Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast”: The “junior” musical production from Village Theatre’s KidStage runs through Feb. 2 with shows at 7:30 p.m. Thursdays through Saturdays and 2 p.m. Sundays at the Village Theatre Second Stage, 2730 Wetmore Ave., Everett. The musical is based on the animated film and includes all the favorite songs sung by more than 40 school-aged children, under the direction of former KidStage performer Molli Corcoran. MUSIC

Caspar Babypants: Presented by the Seattle Symphony, Caspar takes on Beatles songs and freshens them up in a minimal way so that kids and parents can both enjoy the melodies and lyrics. Performances are 10 and 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. Jan. 18 in the Benaroya Recital Hall, 200 University St., Seattle. The show uses symphonic instruments to bring the simple and beautiful melodies of the Beatles songs to life. Preconcert fun begins 30 minutes before each concert in the Grand Lobby. Tickets are $12. EXHIBITS

“Dinosaurs: A Journey Through Time”: Explore the Mesozoic Era (248 to 65 million years ago) through eight robotic dinosaurs that move and roar. Among the dinobots are the meat-eater Tyrannosaurus Rex, the “tyrant lizard king,” who was more than 50 feet long. Pacific Science Center, 200 Second Ave. N., Seattle; www.pacificsciencecenter.org. Admission is $18 general, $16 seniors, $13 for kids 6 to 15, $10 for children 3 to 5.

Western Heritage Center: An interactive museum of mining, logging, agriculture, transportation, construction and wildlife. Kids will be entertained by noisy machinery, including an 1880s-era drill press powered by giant belts tied to a waterwheel outside the building. This exhibit shows how creative people had to be to survive without TV and cellphones. Seed drills, drag saws, potato diggers, gas pumps, vintage John Deere tractors, and more showcase the history of Snohomish County. Open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesdays through Saturdays and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday on the east side of the Evergreen State Fairgrounds, 14405 179th Ave. SE, Monroe. Imagine Children’s Museum: 1502 Wall St., Everett; phone 425-258-1006; special event schedule and more information is at imaginecm.org. Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sundays. Build bridges from cardboard and lasagna noodles, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Jan. 18. Each third Friday of the month is the museum’s Free Friday Night Live. The next Free Friday is Jan. 17. Play indoors with the kids from 5:30 to 9 p.m. at no cost; imaginecm.org.

POETRY

Haiku: The Arlington Arts Council and Friends of the Arlington Library are sponsoring a haiku poetry contest as part of the Feb. 1 Eagle Festival. Contest deadline is Jan. 29. Haiku are nonrhyming three-line poems of five syllables in the first line, seven syllables in the second line and five syllables in the third line, with no punctuation. The contest theme is nature. Three submissions per poet. No entry fee. Monetary prizes to be awarded in three age groups: elementary school, middle and high school, and college and older.
