Gaudi-inspired work at Edmonds museum

A new Sculptor’s Workshop presents interpretations and influences of the Spanish architect Antoni Gaudi at the Edmonds Arts Festival Museum.

The exhibit is open now and runs through July 25. Visitors will get to meet artists from 6:30 to 8 p.m. July 19 at the Edmonds Arts Festival Museum gallery at the Frances Anderson Center, 700 Main St., Edmonds.

Influenced by Moorish tile-work, nature and medieval cathedrals, Gaudi created heavily mosaiced architecture with wrought iron gates and balconies, furniture and landscape architecture.

Workshop artists include Shiloh Ariel, Louis Cruz, Rosemary Dally, Robert Dionne, Colleen Duran, Michiko Euling, Lennea Gandee, Denise Heekin, LaDonna McKeever, Scoll Merrick, Connie Nelson, Rebecca Newton-Barnes, Paloma Pattis, Sandra Z. Richardson, Beverly Sears, Terry Sonmore, Patty Steele-Smith, Jerry Stiffler, Janet Still, Lisa Szilassy, Masako Thrower, Leon White and Joanne Zogg.

Chocolate, anyone? Oil painter Roxanne Jaross has a way of making you hungry for chocolate.

Her luscious paintings are definitely eye candy to be enjoyed during the exhibit “Delight &Desire” at Autumn’s Framing &Gallery, 537 Main St., Edmonds. Her artwork is on display through July 18.

Jaross’ oversized studies of chocolates make viewers feel like they are really indulging. And though the lush texture of her work seems to capture the smell, taste and feel of chocolate treats, these can be enjoyed guilt-free.

See some sea art: A group show of art inspired by the sea is called “Pelagic” opens next week at Solovei Art Gallery in Everett.

More than 30 artists will display their impressions of the open sea with oil and acrylic paintings, watercolors, pastels, graphite, collages, mixed media, digital media, photography, wood carving, glass, clay and fiber.

The exhibit begins Tuesday and runs through Aug. 6 at the gallery, 2804 Grand Ave., Everett.

Partners in art: Artists and partners Dean Shepard and Leah Wolf will be showing their paintings and jewelry in Snohomish through July.

The show runs July 1-31 at Arts of Snohomish Gallery, 105 Cedar Ave., Snohomish.

Shepard, of Baring, is skilled at the art of shading, creating scenes and depicting movement. He feels his work is a spiritual endeavor and tries to capture the essence of a place or object. Another of Shepard’s specialties is creating birdhouses that are wonderfully detailed and functional works of wood that he sells at the Snohomish Farmers Market on Thursdays.

His work is also shown at the Index Art Gallery, which is managed by his partner Wolf.

Wolf’s paintings are a mixture of moody abstract expressionism. Her copper jewelry is handcrafted from beginning to end and then embellished with various beads, found objects and stones.

Eagle Wings disAbility Ministries will hold an art benefit and sale of works by watercolor artist Didi Prentice from 1 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Mukilteo Presbyterian Church, 4514 84th St. SW, Mukilteo.

The show opens with a reception from 6 to 11 p.m. July 5 and runs through July 31 at All City Coffee, in the Tashiro Kaplan Building at 125 Prefontaine Place S., Seattle.

As the paintings develop and are declared finished, they will be hung on the walls and placed for sale. Each participating artist has created his own custom, limited-edition All City T-shirt that will be available for purchase, based on availability.

Seattle-based artists participating are Corrie Greening, Augie Pagan, Christopher Gay and Maija Fiebig, along with Portland, Ore.-based artist Ryan Bubnis.

Art inspired by the sea is included in “Pelagic” at Solovei Art Gallery in Everett.
