Jon Riedel, a geologist with the North Cascades National Park, presents a talk on the geologic evolution of the Skagit River watershed, at the Puget Lobe Chapter meeting at 7 p.m. March 4 at the Edmonds Senior Center.
The talk, called “Fire and Frost,” traces the development of the Skagit River during the past several million years from alpine glaciation, volcanic eruptions, landslides and the effect of the massive Cordilleran ice sheet that covered much of Washington state.
The presentation is free and open to the public.
The Puget Lobe Chapter of the Ice Age Floods Institute meets at the Edmonds Senior Center, 220 Railroad Ave.
