“American Idol” winner Taylor Hicks will sign copies of his latest CD, “The Distance,” beginning at 4 p.m. Friday at Wal-Mart, 8924 Quil Ceda Blvd., Tulalip.
Fans can bring anything to Wal-Mart to get signed, although those with sealed CDs should check in with a member of Wal-Mart’s staff upon arrival.

Hicks is currently in the area performing as Teen Angel in a touring production of “Grease,” a Broadway revival of the musical. The show closes its run on May 30 at the 5th Avenue Theater, 1308 5th Ave., Seattle.

Hicks won season five of “American Idol,” although you could argue the real winner that year was Chris Daughtry. Despite being voted off, Daughtry went on to record a quadruple-platinum rock album. Hicks, dropped from one record label since winning, has a single platinum album under his belt.
