Learn about good and bad bugs at the Monroe Garden Club

Join the Monroe Garden Club at 1 p.m. Monday, March 13, to learn about good and bad garden insects.

Master Gardener Laura Cooper will speak on “Good Bugs/Bad Bugs.” She’ll help you identify beneficial garden insects and give pointers on how to get rid of the destructive ones.

The garden club meets at the Monroe Community Senior Center, 276 Sky River Parkway, Monroe.

All are welcome. Guests are invited to come early and bring a lunch or purchase lunch at the center; suggested donation $4. If you plan to buy lunch, please call ahead at 360-794-6359.

Garden designer to speak at Snohomish club meeting

Garden designer Lorrie Cain will be the guest speaker at the next meeting of the Snohomish Garden Club, set for 7 p.m. March 13 at the Snohomish Senior Center, 506 4th St., Snohomish.

Cain, a Washington State Certified Professional Horticulturist, has run Lorrie Cain Garden Designs since 2009.

Learn more about owls

Find out about the owls in your neighborhood at a virtual presentation planned by the Friends of Camano Island Parks as part of its Camano Wildlife Habitat Project.

The presenter will be Shona Aitken, Education Coordinator at Wolf Hollow Wildlife Rehabilitation Center, headquartered in Friday Harbor.

The Zoom session is planned for 7 p.m. March 15. To register. go to www.camanowildlifehabitat.org. A Zoom link will be emailed after registration.

Rock & gem club sets annual sale

The Maplewood Rock and Gem Club plans its annual Rock & Mineral Sale for 10 a.m.-5 p.m. April 1-2 at 8802 196th St. SW, Edmonds.

A variety of vendors will offer gems, rocks, slabs, crystals, beads, rough, cabochons, gems, fossils, gift item, and more, both rough and carved, big and small.
