Home & Garden Briefly: Two plant sales and a planting event for kids this Saturday

Monroe Garden Club plant sale set

The Monroe Garden Club will hold its annual plant sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday in front of the Monroe Community Senior Center, 276 Sky River Parkway in Monroe.

Shoppers will find a wide selection of perennials, vegetable starts and shrubs. Please note the club can only accept cash or checks. The plant sale is held in conjunction with the senior center’s annual Spring Craft and Vendor Fair, which offers gifts, crafts, jewelry and more.

The plant sale is the primary fundraiser for the garden club. Proceeds fund a scholarship for a high school senior majoring in the horticulture field as well as several community projects such as city flower baskets.

Everett Garden Club’s annual plant sale set

The Everett Garden Club’s annual fundraiser plant sale will be held from 9 a.m. until all is sold Saturday at 52nd Street SE and Evergreen Way.

Club members grow vegetable and flower starts and contribute many unusual plants from their yards. The sale also includes pots and planters full of gorgeous flowers at reasonable prices because they are donated by area nurseries.

Proceeds support the club’s activities for the year, which include donations to schools for their gardening projects as well as other horticultural programs in Everett.

Edmonds in Bloom to host Kids Plant event

Edmonds in Bloom, a nonprofit, will host its annual Kids Plant event from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Edmonds Museum Summer Market.

The event provides kids an opportunity to create a floral design in a beach pail as a gift to give to a loved one. Volunteers will assist kids as they select their pails, apply stickers and select their flowers for planting.

The Kids Plant booth will be in the center of the market on Bell Street and 5th Avenue N. To help offset the cost of materials, a cash donation of $10 is appreciated.
