Even the Messiah couldn’t stop the snow. On Dec. 21, it snowed so much that the Everett Symphony had to cancel its popular holiday concert, “Messiah Sing-Along.”
Turns out, Handel isn’t just for Christmas.
The composer’s much-loved “Messiah” oratory is often performed near Easter, too. And you will get to hear, and sing, the “Messiah” even sooner than that.
The Everett Symphony is having a make-up Messiah Sing-Along concert at 3 p.m. Sunday at First Presbyterian Church, 2936 Rockefeller Ave., Everett. Tickets are $15 and $10, and are available by calling 425-258-1605, 888-266-8486 or 800-595-4849. Tickets can be purchased at the door starting at 2:30 p.m. Tickets from the canceled Dec. 21 concert will be honored.
Symphony conductor Paul-Elliott Cobbs leads you, the choir, in singing Handel’s masterpiece. Vocal scores will be available to borrow at the concert.
The acoustics in the church are golden, said symphony violinist Jo Hull. “There are scarce opportunities for people to sing with a live symphonic orchestra,” she said.
Money raised from the concert will defray travel expenses for individual musicians when they tour, a costly burden not covered by the symphony, Hull said.
“We are excited to see if the spring performance is received as well as during the Christmas season,” she said.
