Readers collecting this, that and the other are hoping to cash in on your donations.
Kelly Schwindt of Monroe tells us, “I am the new labels/box tops coordinator for Salem Woods Elementary School in Monroe this year, and would like to update our address for those wishing to share Campbell’s soup labels, Pepperidge Farm UPC codes and Box Tops for Education. Please mail these items directly to the school at Salem Woods Elementary School, 12802 Wagner Road, Monroe, WA 98272, Attention PTA. We received wonderful response last year from your article and greatly appreciate the help.”
Next, we hear from Mary E. Hanewinckel of Lake Stevens, “Our school, Zion Lutheran, can use labels from all canned Campbell’s products, proof of purchases from Pepperidge Farms, and Box Tops for Education. Some of these are also found on self-sealing plastic bags, flour and Prego products. Actually, anything produced by Campbell’s is acceptable. These items can be mailed to Zion Lutheran School, 3923 103rd Ave. SE, Everett, WA 98205, or to me as contact person, Mary Hanewinckel, 12413 68th St. NE, Lake Stevens, WA 98258. Thank you for your assistance in this helping project.”
And last but not least today, Sylvia C. Drugge of Everett writes, “Because of the tremendous response last year, I planned to let someone else have a turn this year at used greeting cards. However, if there are no other takers, I will be pleased to continue to collect them for Children’s Hospital in Seattle.
“I can arrange to meet just about anywhere in the county. My voice mail is not as reliable as it should be, so please call me at 425-316-3583’again, if I do not respond in a day or two. My e-mail (Haadem@aol.com) works fine, and my mailing address is P.O. Box 1632, Everett, WA 98206.
SOS: Everett reader Sharon Weiden needs our help. “I had a recipe my great-grandmother gave me about 50 years ago,” she says. “She was from Germany and made this with pork sausage, oatmeal, onion and spices like sage, savory, pepper and salt. We sliced it off and fried it for breakfast with eggs. She just called it pork sausage. I wonder if anybody out there has a recipe, because I can’t find mine anywhere, or anything like hers.”
Sounds to me like Sharon is talking about a concoction called scrapple. Ring any bells with you? If so, and you can shed light on/share a recipe for this old specialty, I hope you’ll write to Judyrae Kruse at the Forum, c/o The Herald, P.O. Box 930, Everett, WA 98206.
